Usually, the UTAH Division of Motor Vehicles sends you a notice through mail or email informing you of the renewal of your license plate. If you have received such a notice, you can complete the renewal process sitting in the comforts of your home or office.
Requirements to renew your UTAH license plate online
- A PC or laptop with a stable and secure internet connection
- Should be the owner of the vehicle whose license plate has to be renewed
- License plate number and PIN (found in the renewal notice)
- Should have completed the necessary safety and emission tests and possess the certificates
- Valid Credit Card

- To renew you r UTAH license plate number, go to www.renewalexpress.utah.gov
- Enter your License Plate number and PIN number that will be available in the renewal notice sent to you by UTAH DMV
- Alternatively, you can enter the following details
- Last Name
- Zip Code (5 digits)
- License Plate Number
- Last 8 digits of your vehicle’s VIN number
- After entering the required information, click on ‘Start Your Renewal’ button
- Verify the information provided on screen and follow the instructions carefully to complete your license plate renewal process.
