Hard Disks store data in your computer and are a essential part of any computer. There are different hard disk types that have been introduced in the market. The four common hard disk types are
- Parallel Advanced Technology Attachment (PATA) or Integrated Drive Electronics (IDE)
- Serial ATA (SATA)
- Small Computer System Interface (SCSI)
- Solid State Drives (SSD)
Solid State Drives
All hard disk types except SSD involve moving parts (discs and head stack) to store data. Many do not consider SSD as a hard disk type as it does not have discs in them. Semiconductors are used in SSD to store data and have replaced the discs. SSD are considered to be faster and durable when compared to the other HDDs. However, you will have to shell out more money for these features as SSDs are expensive than other HDDs.
Requirements
- A PC that has a Solid State Drive Hard Disk
- Partition Wizard software
Steps to Align SSD Partition
- Boot the computer and let the booting process complete before you start the partition process.
- Click the Start Menu and click on ‘Run’ and type ‘msinfo32’.
- If you cannot find the run button, Type ‘msinfo32’ in the start menu search field to find it and click on it.
- System Information will be displayed on the screen
- Under System Summary, select Components →Storage →Disk. All information regarding the disk will be displayed on screen.
- Identify the SSD and check if the partition starting offset has been set to integer multiples of 4096. If so, then the SSD is aligned, else, you will have to Align the SSD.
