When you lose your job due to no fault of your own, you can apply for the Oregon unemployment benefits via their unemployment insurance. The unemployment insurance was setup so as to give you the financial assistance you need while you are applying for another job. One thing that you should know is that the financial assistance is temporary and it is not given on a need basis but by your employment history. You are required to strictly follow the laws stipulated by the state law while filing for claim so as to avoid problems with the law.
About Oregon Unemployment Insurance
This is an insurance provided by the Oregon state government but the payment of claims is handled by your employer. The Oregon State employment department was started back in 1993 with the mission of promoting employment through creating a diversified work force and providing financial support during the periods of unemployment.
You will have to be eligible to apply for the unemployment benefits claim. There are specific requirements you will have to meet; you have to give the reason of you being unemployed failure to report the reason for your unemployment to the employment department may result to fraud penalties. You will have to provide the wages you earned and the amount of hours you worked during your base period. If you don’t meet the hours required you can apply for the alternative unemployment benefit claim. You have to be physically able and ready to work.
You are able to apply for the weekly claim or monthly claim. There were changes that were made to the weekly claim on September 2013. In the past you were allowed to change the effective date. However, that option is no longer available now; the effective initial claim is effective the week it was filed. The other change is that you will have only 7 days from the day a week ends to apply for the weekly claim.
